| In the begining of this section we see Emma and Leon in a hotel. She loves the furniture and fabrics, that to me seemed trashy and like what you would expect in a brothel.
Emma and Leon soon tire of each other. The bills are piling up and Emma is getting more and more desperate, and more and more vicious. | |

| We have seen that Emma's taste runs to the extravegent ie. bordering on trashsy, because she really doesn't have good taste. She admires things that she presumes women of culture should admire. maybe the author is trying to portray the sleaziness or lack of gentility of their affair by painting the hotel thus.
