In this section we see a complete picture of how disatisfied Emma is. The ball seems to play a comparisson to her fantasy. Holding on to the ball, she allows her fantasy to dramatically impact her reality.

On another note...can we say
Effexor/Prozac/etc.

It is not what I thought, and at this point it is difficult, because I don't really like any of the characters. I didn't care for Charles, and thought that I would easily identify with Emma, but I don't know how I feel about her either.
