Here we see how weak Emma is, as soon as the opportunity presents itself, she has an affair with Leon.

According to SparkNotes, the scene in the carriage is famous, as it represents their sexual activity in the carriage. I of course, didn't pick up on this, but I think that is because I am having a hard time getting into this one.

I had a hard time getting into this one too. I couldn't figure out why it was such a classic. We know from the beginning that there is misery. The only thing we are waiting for is how it ends. The last chapter.

Is she weak or just bored out of her mind? I think the elder Mrs. Bovary was correct when she said earlier that Emma needes something to do! she just seemed so jaded when i read these chapters.
