| Well I wasn't surprised at the way that Rodolphe left, but her reaction was iritating to me. To faint, and become so ill that she couldn't function for weeks on end. Rediculous! Especially when we know that she didn't really love him, she just has a bad case of "the grass is always greener..."
She again shows her short attention span, with religion. And of course that as soon as she sees Leon, she is ready to have another affair. | |

| I've been noticing that during this time period, all the woman are "fragile." They have "moments" of illness when it comes to their advantage. I think it is quite boring too. | |

| Randolphe showed his colors at the fair earlier when he made up all kinds of stuff to tell Emma to flatter her. No surprise in the way he determined to get rid of her with the letter. No surprise she would react the way she did. Lookk how she reacted when Leon went to Paris to study and they weren't even really involved. That she swings from hysteria to illness to religious ferver should have driven Charles crazy. | |
