| Chapters 49-51:
In this set of chapters we see much of the hidden story lines revealed. Merle and Osmunds love affair and their child, Pansy, is discovered. Poor Pansy has been sent away again, and neither she nor her 'mothers' stick up for her.
Osmund tries to control Isabel and not allow her to go to England. I hope that we are going to finally see her 'independent' side again.
SparkNotes talks about geography playing a role, but I found that whole paragraph and train of thought to be stretching a bit. | |

| Funny you should talk about geography. I kind of felt the same way. I pulled out a map and tried to plot all of these travels and their travels were really time consuming. There is a lot of countryside inbetween their travels. I guess it was a big deal for the aristocrats to travel and keep in touch. | |
