| Chapter 5:
K. is working late when he hears a noise in the lumber room. He devestated to find his warders being whipped. He is unable to stop the whipping. Feeling guilty the next day he peeks in to see what is left and finds the three men still there.
It is hard to tell if K. is going crazy, if the worry of being guilty of something is making him need to be guilty in another aspect. Or if like SparkNotes mentions this is a scene to make us realize that this law can be anywhere anytime, haunting K. torturing him, even if they aren't interrogating him.

| Wow, these men screw up and they get flogged at work. Just glad that doesn't happen at our work.
Am I correct in reading that he came back the second day and they were still there?
