Henry and Wilson get recognized as fierce soldiers, at a point when they both realize their own insignificance in the war.

Henry's feelings are going back and forth throughout this entire book. Now he is satisfied by his behavior because one colonel has recognized him.
Shouldn't self worth be what it says. Self evaluating.

Henry recongnized that they did not cover much ground nor were they fighting very long before they had to retreat even though it seemed like hours and long distances. Henry and Wilson are reconginzed for their valor and in the eyes of their company, they are respected. This is all Henry ever wanted although we don't know what Wilson may have hoped for. They have become good friends.
