Chapters 29-31:

The worst has happened, Jim is sold back into slavery. Huck, who has struggled with slavery and morality through out the novel, decides he will save Jim and the price of his own soul.
This is the first time Huck completely sees Jim as a man, and an equal.

Huck is going through a lot now. He does have a warped notion about God. He thinks that stealing Jim will send him to hell. Little does he know that his heart will have him do the right thing and help Jim.

Major growth for Hucky. affraid

the two roylaties just drive me crazy. I can hardly read about them without wanting to change the plot myself! I could see what was coming, when the hand bill was made, that it was only a matter of time.
Huck feels he can save Jim and chooses to do that because he has developed a true affection for him, but as you say, Brienne it is at the price of eternal damnation in his eyes.
