| Septimus has a very lucid moment, where he interacts with his wife. She is extremely grateful for this time that they spend together. Then the Dr. starts heading up the stairs. Rezia knows it will be a disaster if he comes in, but he pushes her aside. Septimus, in what appears to be a continued lucid state, chooses death over being confined in a mental institution, and being forced to believe as Dr. Holmes and the specialist. Rezia seems to understand this choice. | |
