Chapters 45-48:

How sad that Isabel is willing to send her friends away, especially Ralph who she will never see again, in order to save face. I am glad that Warburton was 'man enough' to leave and let Pansy and Isabel be.

Clever is not the word for Isabel. Isabel finally realizes that Ralph means something to her.

Osmond and Merle really surprised me. The charade that they have put on for years was aweful. Isabel was brought up in American, she shouldn't have put so much emphasis on social duty and dropped the guy. She had the money and status to continue being "indepentent."
