| Well I have to say I was surprised as the crew to find out that Ahab had a crew of his own to chase whales with, even though there was some foreshaddowing to let us know.
I like the action, in fact I like the story in general, I just get tired of the LENGTHY diversions of the author. The story of the Town-Ho was interesting, but provided limited information about Moby-Dick, and a lot of information about characters we may never hear from again. | |

| I also was surprised that Ahab went into the harpooners boat. I liked the section of the "gam." I guess they have to have socialization too. I did enjoy the story of the mutiny. When the story moves quicker I can tolerate the story. Otherwise it is a task. I don't want to skip anything, because I might miss a good part. | |

| I have struggled with the loooong side bars especiallay the lengthy discussion of 'white'. I read the first quarter of the book pretty easily but have bogged down. Like Brienne, I don't want to skip because som gem maybe buried in the midst of it! Since Ahab planned all along to go out just to get the white while, he may have thought it prudent to stack the deck by taking a second crew! | |
