DonQuixote was a lanky old man on an old nag of a horse named Rozinante. His rusty armor makes me think a long time ago he was strong. This armor hides how old a feeble he is.

Don Quixote could have been obsessive/compulsive. Obsessive about knight-errants and their lives. He was very committed to his dream. His "IMPOSSIBLE DREAM."

Symbol?
I think the armor does hide how feeble he is to the world, but I also think that once the armor is on, Quixote himself no longer feels feeble. Maybe it helps keep him 'in character'.

Perhaps the armor is like supermans cape. He becomes who he wishes to be when in the armor. he 'rested' for a fortnight at home, most likely in his bed clothes, rember?
