| This book was chosen in the top ten novels of the year so far by Amazon.com. Quote from the cover
"My gripe is not with lovers of the truth, but with truth herself. What succor, what consolation is there in truth, compared to a story? What good is truth at midnight, in the dar, when the wind is roaring like a bear in the chimney? What you need are the plump comforts of a story. The soothing, rocking safety of a lie." -Vida Winter | |

| I am just a couple of chapters in to this one, and I can barely put it down. I feel a connection to the protaganist, based on her love of reading and her endless curiosity. | |

| i was really drawn to the herione as well. working in a ook shop would be a reat job. I thought the author did a good job seeting the scene and easing the herione into the role of biographer. she also gave me several interestig loose ends so I wanted to continue reading! | |

| how are you doing with this book? I was not suprised that Aurelious was the child of one of the twins, were you? i also guessed that the grandmotherly woman that was seen in the woods was also the woman who was given the child the night of the fire. The author let us play with the idea that there was another sibling/relative when the governess saw two of them playing together and then saw one in a catatonic state at the doctors. For a while I was waiting to see what would force the non damaged twin to pop out of her weirdness and become 'normal'. | |

| I also kept wondering what made the agressive twin all of a sudden kind. Looking back there were a lot more hints to the truth than I realized at the time, The way she played with we, she, I...etc. I wasn't surprised to find out that Aurelius was one of the twins, but he did seem pretty normal for the imbred state he came from. | |

| Did you think that the twins were their uncles daughters? | |
