the author did a good job keeping me interested in the various mini stories or Sturrock, of Francis, of the people at the Norwegian outpost. I feel a connection with Donald, too and his infatuation with Susannah. The author really made me feel like I know these people., even the evil looking prisoner/guide who helps Mrs. ross to locate her son.
