| Peter continues to contemplate his relationship with both Clarissa and with Daisy. He is brutally honest with himself re: Daisy, and knows that he probably won't be able to make her happy, but is keeping her because he doesn't want her with anyone else.
With Clarissa though, he fantasizes that she wept well writing the letter to him, wishes she would have married him instead.
He heads to the party...acting the part of the man that he wishes he was.
Ironically he listened to the ambulance that came to pick up Septimus, thinking of how great civilization (the civilization that Septimus' is escaping) is. | |
