Huck is able to trick his pa into thinking he was murdered. He uses some pretty mature concepts to make this happen. He floats down the river and lands on a large island and sets up camp. Huck realizes he is not alone on the island and discovers Jim, one of Miss Watson’s household slaves. Jim is superstitious and at the mercy of Huck, being a runaway slave, but he is also intelligent and knows Huck wishes to be undiscovered as well. huck and jim rely on one another and are feeling content on the island. When Huck gets bored, he dresses like a girl (stemming from clothing they scrounged from a house that was floating by) and goes ashore. He finds out that some men are going to search the island for Jim for a 300 dollar reward. he gets back to jim and they leave the island by way of a canoe.

Chapters 7-10:

It is an interesting contrast to see how mature Huck's thoughts are while planning his escape, yet how child like he can be (as he pranks Jim with the rattlesnake and causes an injury).

I wondered if the body found in the house was Huck's father, which SparkNotes confirmed.

This part was extremely interesting to me. You guys are right, he is very creative in planning his moves. Maybe it's because of his upbringing. All the coniving that he has had to do.

Spark Notes occasionally slips and gives out too much info.
