In this section we see that the fair, an important and exciting function for most of the town, is dismissed by Emma and Rodolphe. They instead walk together and visit in a building.

Rodolphe is manipulating, but Emma's intent of a lover, riches, or happiness, play a large role in her decision to have an affair. Rodolphe also seems to be the oposite of Leon, who was caring, shy and romantic; where he is devious, pushy and has only sexual interest.

These two deserve each other...

I remember feeling that if Rudolph is going to get involved with a married woman he has low morals. I was waiting for him to hurt Emma.

Yes Rudolph has nothing but a sexual escapade on his mind. It is demostrated in his first viewing of Emma. He likes what he see's but already wonders how he will get rid of her. Leondid seem to think in terms of 'love' and respected Emma's postions as a married woman.
