jane feels she has been communicated with by rochester and decides to leave the security of Moore house and seek him. she finds thornfield in ruins and afer much searching finds rochester burned disfigured and blind. She still loves him and now that bertha is dead decides to marry him. they live happily ever after even so far as to have rochester regain a portion of his sight near the time of the birth of their child. I liked that it ended that way although after looking at spark notes Bronte is raked over the coals abit to have Jane only feel rochesters equal once he has been disfigured. I never felt that she did not feel his equal even as the governess. She just wanted a relationship in what was considered a moral way.

Once again Charlotte Bronte stunned the reader. The dismal life of Jane Eyre was going in the direction of dismay. Finally Jane takes one last plunge to find Mr. Rochester. To make her final fork in the road decision. Jane truly loves Mr. Rochester and will stand by his side.

I am surprised that she doesn't find the saddest path at the end of the book. The whole book was headed that way.

Going back to Jane's first "real" time of happiness was when she was getting the house ready for her two cousins. She just stepped into that role and knew how to be happy and show her happiness. That is a little far fetched. Jane was a quiet woman with guidelines that kept her on the same path of sadness. Well she does show the reader that she can be happy. Mr. Rochester back in her life is all she wanted. Was it really true love or did it start out as an infactuation of the first "hunk" she found after leaving Lowood.
